Buried Treasure - Lost Australian rock n roll
Hello and welcome to Buried Treasure Podcast ! This podcast presents to you never before released live recordings from Australia’s rock ‘n’ roll underground from the 1980s and early 1990’s. For 15 years from the mid 80’s to the end of the 20th Century, my life was spent in Sydney’s pubs following the live music scene. This devotion to rock n roll eventually led to publishing a fanzine and also a record label – both of which are now long gone. I attended hundreds of gigs armed with my trusty Realistic hand held tape recorder and recorded hundreds of bands. As such, these recordings now represent historical audio documents that represent a time, a place, and a period that no longer exists. Indeed, where Birdmen flew. I’m talking about bands such as the Screaming Tribesmen, The Hitmen, The Lime Spiders, X, Radio Birdman, the Dubrovniks, Rose Tattoo, and a whole stack more in between. These are all my own personal recordings and none of these have ever seen the light of day in any shape or form, until now, which begs the question, why another podcast ? What has this guy got to say that hasn’t already been said ? Well quite simply I was there in the day, in a golden period of Australian rock ‘n’ roll when record stores existed and independent music was indeed independent. The world wide demand for product by Australian bands from this period on Ebay for example, is indicative of just how popular these bands and their music have become. So why not share some of it ? This period of rock n roll no longer exists and these recordings deserve to be heard. The quality does vary between recordings, as they were all recorded on an analogue source, well before the digital age of Ipods and the like, but the music sounds great, so if you are fan of Australian underground rock from the 80’s, sit back and enjoy this podcast. Rock n roll forever
